Excerpt from the book 'Visions Unusual'
written by Margo Kirtikar Ph.D.
We are standing on the threshold of a new era where humanity has arrived at a major evolutionary turning point. Looming on the horizon before us is a totally new way of life, a New World order and new overwhelming challenges. Everywhere around us there is evidence of upheaval. Old ideas are falling away. Political realities and alliances are assuming new forms. Computers and telecommunications have made us a global society, but the pace of life has speeded up to the point where many people now feel overwhelmed by events and by the excess of responsibilities. Looking back at the past century, the last three decades, and in particular the immediate past few years, we know that we have made more progress than in the past 2000 years of our history put together. Technology has opened wide new worlds of possibilities for us, and it continues to surprise us daily with even more novelties. We know today so much more than we have ever known before about our universe, about human psychology, the human body and the human brain and we have even more challenges to face and more worlds to conquer. This book is about one of these major challenges, the most important challenge of all that we are facing today: individual and global consciousness expansion.
We are told the only way for us to understand the universe is to study the human being. In the past decades, western scientists have made some fantastic discoveries of the human physical body and particularly the human brain. In theory and intellectually we know a lot about maximum potential, mind power, visualization, motivation, positive thinking, how to communicate effectively, how to do this or that professionally. In practice, however, the results are poor because everything was dealt with intellectually, ignoring our spiritual heritage.
Our western society lacks spiritual vision because we have put all our energy and focus on the intellect and on material possessions. As individuals we have become moneymaking machines, living in constant stress to make still more money, and in constant fear of losing our position, possessions, wealth or health. 'Money' so to speak has become our 'God.' The success and happiness of an individual is judged by the amount of money one has, disregarding all virtues, ethical values and character of the individual. Our minds are pretty much slaves of our desires and our ideas are preoccupied with the little knowledge that our very limited five senses can register in our physical brain. In the process of progressing in science and technology we have managed to lose ourselves. The more our outside world expanded, the more we shrank and shriveled inside. We feel hollow as we wonder about the meaning of life. In the East, ignorance, outdated useless traditions and religious fanaticism hold the price of ignorance, poverty, unemployment, starvation, war, suffering and dependence. Both east and west are lacking.
Nothing in life happens without reason, and nothing in nature happens in vain. In this sense here's some information that deserves your attention. Our planet is now moving towards a new energy pattern into a new age era, and much of the crisis we are all experiencing on an individual and on a global level is due to this shift of energies. In the past mankind has been quite ignorant of planet energies and their influence on humanity. Because of that we had, and continue to have difficulty, to understand the chaos and confusion in the world. Something is going on, we can feel that; but we don't know what exactly. In spite of our advanced technology we feel we are not in control of the situation. We feel instinctively that the rules of the game of life are changing, and we have no clue what to do next or what to expect.
In the past esoteric knowledge was kept for the few privileged. In the age of information and global communication that we live in today, there are no mysteries and no secrets. No one is concealing knowledge any more. The acquisition or transmission of true knowledge demands great labor and great effort both of the one who receives and of the one who gives. Those who possess this knowledge are doing everything they can today to transmit and to communicate with as many people as possible, to facilitate peoples' approach to it. The truth is, knowledge cannot be given to anyone. The one who wants knowledge must make the initial efforts to find the source and to approach it consciously.
You are a free being and it is of course your choice to make. It is up to you to make the effort to acquire knowledge and to work constructively with this new knowledge. Unfolding before you in this book will be new grounds that bring you not only many challenges but responsibility as well. For having knowledge means accepting responsibility. Accepting 'responsibility' for the self, is one of the important 'key' words in the new millennium and a must for expansion of consciousness, to accept responsibility for your thoughts and your actions. Without growing in awareness it will be very difficult to keep abreast with the rapid progress and the challenges that are awaiting us.
